Chesapeake Alert

What is Chesapeake Alert?

Chesapeake Alert is a free service that allows you to receive information and notifications from the City government in areas that your choose. On this page, you'll find a link to a growing list of notification types you can select, from transportation to recreation.

Chesapeake Alert logoTo begin, you will need to set up an account. This allows you to come back at any time and change your contact information or the notifications you receive. Your password keeps it secure.

You can receive information via email or text message. Some notifications will be available via telephone.

The system is also used for emergency notifications via telephone. The City currently has a list of telephone numbers attached to the home addresses of residents for emergency notifications only. This allows the City to contact residents directly affected by an emergency without notifying the entire city. These are home telephone numbers only. Because we know that roughly 20% of you use a cell phone as your home telephone, the option to add your cell phone to the system is available.

You can also select to receive important notices from Chesapeake's Fire, Police, and Sheriff's Departments that are not related to a specific emergency. Simply choose that option from the list of notifications.
