Fire Department
Welcome
to CFD STATION 9
"Camelot"
On March 18, 2005 Engine Company 9, Battalion Chief 3 and EMS 3 took
up quarters in their new home. The former station #9 had been in existence
since the birth of the City of Chesapeake in 1963. The old and cramped
building could no longer serve the needs of busy fire companies. New
fire station #9 is considered "state of the art" in design
where form followed function. The station is also centrally located
in the run district, enabling a better response to service in all directions.
The station was dedicated on a special day in the Chesapeake Fire Dept.
On March 18, 1996 two of Chesapeake's bravest made the ultimate sacrifice
in an auto parts store fire. Fire station #9 is dedicated to the memory
and service of Frank Young and John Hudgins.
