Children Today Leaders Tomorrow

From Jim O'Sullivan, Undersherrif

"The Chesapeake Sheriff's Office in conjunction with founding sponsor Collins Machine Works is proud to introduce a new initiative that we think will truly benefit the youth of our community. This program, 'Children Today Leaders Tomorrow' will provide mentoring for at boys, ages 10-12 years old, from Chesapeake who may not be getting along with parents or struggling in school. Each participant will be paired with specially trained Sheriff's Deputies who have been carefully chosen and exhibit professionalism, leadership and community involvement. Our attempt will be to instill these core community values in each of these young men.

The first event, scheduled for April 9-11, 2010 at Triple R Ranch, provides a complete weekend of activities along with presentations from both community leaders and professional athletes who can reinforce positive values. We encourage clergy throughout Chesapeake to nominate individuals from their faith community who could benefit from this program. Please find enclosed an application that must be filled out for each individual being nominated and returned no later than March 12, 2010. From the applications a review committee will select forty-eight young men to attend the inaugural weekend. Individuals who are selected for this program may not have been convicted of any crime or currently have charges pending in any court.

Please take the time and carefully select those individuals who you think would best benefit from involvement in this great program. We look forward to working with you to continue to make Chesapeake a great place to live."
